We go live

The website ( is now up and running, along witih our first experiment, the Birth Order study ( Please stop by and fill out that survey if you have a chance.

From the experiments page I am also linking to one of my experiments back at the Visual Cognition Online Laboratory: The Time Course of Visual Short-Term Memory. I have decided to continue running that experiment for a while yet, so I'm slowly transitioning it over to the new site.

First Post

Hello World,

This is the first post of the newly-inaugerated blog for the not-quite-yet-inaugerated Web-based Cognition and Language Lab ( That is, the website is there, but there isn't much on it yet. Within the next few days, I hope to get our first experiment up and running.

In the meantime, you may want to check out my experiments at the Visual Cognition Online Laboratory (

Why create a new lab when I already have one? The VCOL was something I created for the lab I was RAing at for the past academic year, the Visual Cognition Lab at Harvard, under the direction of Dr. Yuhong Jiang. That lab is moving to another university. I am staying at the same university, but I'll be starting my PhD program in a different lab, studying other topics.

In any case, I had wanted to move from our department's servers to those of a private company by the name of I've heard great things about them, and I'm hoping some of the server issues I've had with the old website will be solved.

I'll post again when there are experiments.
