Monkey language -- better every year

For many years we've been saying that monkey calls were non-decompositional. That is, you can't break them into parts, each of which has its own meaning (as you can do with this sentence, for instance).

I'm not an expert in this subject, but I still felt skepticism about the implication of the article. I think the Language Log guys have a more considered response - they quote back two years to what I guess is related research. It seems to me like researchers are reading a lot of meaning (too much?) into the actual monkey calls, but sorry if I've quoted the wrong story.
